Share Your Condolence: Hazel and I met in 1973 , her retirement year, and my first year in District 118. She struck up a conversation at Palos West where she was a reading and puppeteer volunteer. A few minutes later we were friends forever. Visits to Hazel's house or her Lemont condo were a joy. She was an avid reader and conversationalist (a uniquely fine listener), with a knack for recalling poetry from her school days and her teaching days. She was a VIP in many lives.
