Obituary: Daniel Allen "Dan" Kistler, 60, of Asheville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. A native of South Bend, IN, he was the son of Mary Louise Donahue Kistler and the late Chester E. Kistler of South Bend, IN. He attended Holy Cross Jr. College. He served our country in the Vietnam War as a U.S. Navy veteran. He was employed at the Harris Teeter grocery store in Asheville. He was also an avid golfer before he got Scleroderma in late 2006. He was always ready and willing to lend a hand. Surviving, in addition to his mother, is his loving spouse of 25 years, Carol Chapman Kistler; brother, James "Jim" Kistler (Katy) of Hendersonville; sister, Kathy McDonald (Tim) of South Bend, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at First Christian Church, 470 Enka Lake Road, Candler 28715 of which he was a member. Rev. Dr. Tom Everton will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Fund.
