Obituary: Gene Roger Taylor, 70, died Saturday, July 17, 2010. He was born in Richmond, VA to the late Charles and Minnie Taylor.
Gene proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fine Creek Baptist Church of Powhatan, VA and was a volunteer fireman at the New Kent Fire Department.
Surviving are his loving wife of 28 years, Sandra Diane Mills Taylor; sons, Curtis Burkett (Diedra) of Jacksboro, TN, James H. Taylor of Spruce Pine, NC, and Gene C. Taylor of Alma, AR; grandchildren, Sierra Burkett, Hunter Burkett, Austin Taylor, Kanen Taylor and Hunter Taylor.
Gene was a loving and devoted husband, dad and papa. He will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his; daughter, Kathy Taylor; brothers, Clarence Taylor and Henry Taylor; and sisters, Grace Mathews, Helen Carlton, Mary Mitchell, and Dottie Lawrence.
A service was held at Penland Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 3:00pm. Rev. Laurel A. Farmer officiated.
